a) To function as Heritage Research Centre and Medico-Historical Research Archive for Indian Systems of Medicine(ISM).
b)     Survey, Collection & Preservation, Translation and Publication of Manuscripts and other source materials of ISM
c)     Development and maintenance of Medico-historical Museums and to conduct studies with special reference to Indian Systems of Medicine based on Archeological, Epigraphical records, travelers diaries etc.
d)    Re-Writing History Of Ism Using Objective And Scientific Medico-Historical Researches.
e)   Studies on Evolution of concepts of diseases and drugs used in ISM.
f)   Bringing out Institute’s half yearly Bulletin on History of Medicine regularly
